Value of charity investments rose by 11.4 per cent last year: The value of charity investments rose by 11.4 per cent in 2012, according to figures released yesterday by market analysts the WM Company.

The WM Charity Fund Monitor, based on a survey of most major charity investment managers, uses investment data to the end of November 2012 and estimated figures for December based on the movement of the market overall.

Charitable giving by Silicon Valley philanthropists accelerated toward the end of the year amid expectations that Congress and the White House might strike a budget deal that capped or eliminated the deduction for charitable giving in 2013, the Wall Street Journal reports.

(Jan. 7, 2013) ― The Minnesota Council on Foundations (MCF) reported today that Minnesota grantmakers forecast slightly higher giving in 2013. According to MCF’s 2013 Outlook Report, foundations and corporations believe their grantmaking will increase about two percent from 2012.

Foundation grants seen fueling economy � Philanthropy North Carolina: Grantmaking by U.S. foundations has big short-term and long-term impacts on the economy, a new report says.

Foundation grants totaling $37.85 million in 2010 generated nearly 500,000 jobs immediately, a total that grew to nearly 1 million within a year and to at least 8.8 million over the long-term, says the report by The Philanthropic Collaborative.
