Over 66 percent of U.S. Nonprofits Identify Pro Bono Service As Top Volunteer Need, But Roadblocks Prevent Effective Implementation - MarketWatch: Over 66 percent of U.S. nonprofit organizations need pro bono services more than any other volunteer service, according to a national Pro Bono Readiness Survey released today by a collaborative convened by Capital One Financial Corporation and including Common Impact, Points of Light and the Taproot Foundation. The survey was designed to help identify core challenges and solutions related to pro bono services and skills-based volunteering.

Giving donors control over comms reduces retention, finds survey - Civil Society - Fundraising - News - providing news and in-depth coverage of charities, voluntary organisations and not-for-profits: Allowing donors to choose how a charity communicates with them has a negative effect on donor retention, according to an annual report on face-to-face fundraising.
Charities increased the amount of contact they had with donors signed up via face-to-face fundraising in 2010, but the researchers behind the annual Donor Acquisition and Retention Survey (DARS) warn that allowing donors to choose how they are communicated with at the outset reduces the retention rate by 3.5 percentage points over five years.

Your rich parents may give your inheritance to charity - Jun. 18, 2012: About 32% of high and ultra-high net worth Americans say it isn't important to leave inheritances for their children, according to a report released Monday by U.S. Trust, Bank of America's private wealth management division. Among baby boomers, that percentage rises to about 45%.
