Nonprofits To Add Staff, Don’t Budget For Recruitment | The NonProfit Times: More nonprofits plan to hire new staff in 2014 than use current staff, according to a new survey released today.

Washington, D.C.-based Nonprofit HR, a human resources firm that works exclusively with nonprofit organizations, released the 2014 Nonprofit Employment Practices Survey, which includes responses from more than 400 nonprofits nationwide.

Foundation Assets Reach Highest Level Since Downturn - Foundation Survey - The Chronicle of Philanthropy- Connecting the nonprofit world with news, jobs, and ideas: A strong stock market helped boost the assets last year of the Gates, Hewlett, and other big foundations to their highest levels since the Great Recession gutted endowments six years ago, according to a new Chronicle survey.

Yet grant makers still aren’t as well off as they were before the downturn, and that continues to put a damper on their giving. What it’s not doing, though: crimping ambitious new grant-making efforts to deal with vexing problems.

The survey ran from 2004 to 2012, with the last report showing that donations to charity fell by �2.3bn in real terms to �9.3bn during 2011/12.

IRS Projects Sector’s Worth At $2.939 Trillion | The NonProfit Times: The nonprofit sector collectively had nearly $3 trillion in assets during 2010, according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Statistics of Income Winter Bulletin. Total assets came in at $2.939 trillion. That’s about 9 percent more than 2009, when total assets added up to $2.673 trillion.
