Training and support for charity staff continues to be adversely affected by spending cuts, according to this year’s Charity Pulse survey.
The annual survey of charity employees, run by Third Sector in partnership with Birdsong Charity Consulting, gathered the opinions of 675 charity staff from 190 organisations.

New Study: CDO Confidential - What CDOs Want You To Know About Retention: A National Study on Nonprofit Chief Development Officer Retention
Chicago, IL - A newly released study CDO Confidential: What CDOs Want You to Know about Retention reveals that unrealistic expectations set by management have reduced the average Chief Development Officer (CDO) tenure to one to two years. Other factors include a lack of sufficient resources and cooperation among CDOs, CEOs and Boards. Campbell & Company, a national nonprofit consulting and executive search firm, recently completed a nationwide survey to understand the reasons behind this trend. CDO Confidential received responses from more than 400 Chief Development Officers and Chief Executive Officers to gain multiple perspectives. The sample included organizations with a wide range of missions, budgets, staff sizes and geographic areas.

GVSU study finds internal training key to improving performance at nonprofits: It comes as no surprise that nonprofits have a continual pressing need for money, but some of the potential solutions to that challenge might be as easy as providing for internal staff training needs and reducing turnover.
So says the 2013 Nonprofits Needs Assessment Report funded by the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University. The report contains information gleaned from 138 different nonprofits throughout Michigan.
