Community Newswire: "When given a range of potential areas of household expenditures that they could cut, more than a third (34%) of the public said they expected to cut back on giving to charity in the next 12 months.

But almost half (46%) of non-donors who claimed to give less because of the credit crunch, don't give money to charity anyway, or they haven't in the past three months. The figure dips to just 31% among those who have given to charity recently.

The study was carried out by research consultancy nfpSynergy's Charity Awareness Monitor, which carries out an annual survey, with a representative sample of 1,000 people aged over 16 throughout mainland Britain, asking a range of charity-related questions."
