The Issue: A Driver Who Delivers Dictionaries: "Moore has just completed a study with McKinsey examining the role of CEOs in corporate social responsibility, assessing what needs aren't being met and how philanthropy is incorporated into corporate culture from the top down. As CEO of UPS, Scott Davis was responsible for establishing philanthropy as part of UPS's corporate culture. All UPS employees are required to serve a certain amount of hours of community service; the amount depends on where employees are stationed. Different regions have different resources, different needs, and different cultural attitudes toward philanthropy and corporate social responsibility."

But the conclusion, published in a report called Will It Work?, were challenged by two legacy experts, Richard Radcliffe and Paul Farthing, who argued that specific appeals do work."

Philanthropy UK : Civil Society research indicates changes in UK philanthropy: "Civil Society research indicates changes in UK philanthropy By Roxanne Clark, Added: 02 November 2007
According to new research by the Carnegie UK Trust into the future of civil society the widening gulf between rich and poor could lead to changes in UK philanthropy.
The report, The Shape of Civil Society to Come in the UK & Ireland, explores the potential threats and opportunities facing civil society up to 2025. It states that “one of the key roles of foundations is to complement the role of the state; acting where government is unwilling or unable”. However, it also says that there is growing confusion about “what areas of activity are complementing state activity and what areas are substituting for state activity”."
